Join NHRA: Membership Categories

There are three categories of membership which apply to new applicants. Please note that the type of memberships offered vary by location. Please visit the home page for the location you are interested in for memberships offered. Also please note that affiliate membership requirements may vary by affiliate and are subject to each affiliate's bylaws.

  Regular (Professional) Membership

Regular Member must be:

  • Employed in the human resource management profession or related profession (e.g. regulatory agency professional, attorney engaged in related legal activities, primary occupation as teacher/professor of human resource management, vocational counselor); or
  • Employed as a consultant in the human resources field; or
  • Employed as a manager or owner of a placement or research firm (excluding salespersons); or
  • Actively seeking employment in the human resource profession; or
  • A paraprofessional staff support personnel in human resources field (but not sales personnel in a placement/search organization or clerical personnel).


Please note that regular memberships belong to the individual who holds the membership, regardless of who pays for the membership. In the event a member receives corporate support for dues and changes jobs before the expiration of their membership, the membership will not be transferred to another corporate employee without the written authorization of the member.

TRANSITION OPTION:  NHRA has a program designed to aid our current and former members who are in transition. This program is not designed for HR Consultants who are between contract assignments. For more information, call 866-523-4417.



  Student Membership

Student membership is available to any student who is currently pursuing a degree through an accredited college or university part or full time and does not meet the eligibility standards for a regular membership.

With initial application and renewal paperwork, the student must show documentation (transcript or other verification) of their qualification for student membership.

Please note that student memberships are not designed for individuals who are working on a full-time basis and who are pursuing continuing education. They are intended for full-time students working no more than 24-30 hours in a part-time position.


  Corporate Membership (Not available in all locations)


Where available, corporate members are for those corporate entities interested in supporting the Association's goals and activities.

Corporate members may be represented at local and national events by up to three (3) employees of the corporation at the member rate. Additional participants are welcome; however, they are charged the non-member rate.

Corporate membership will be limited to a percentage of the total membership as determined by the National Board. Corporate members may be represented at meetings by several representatives, but shall have no vote and may not hold elected office.

Please note that corporate memberships belong to the corporation; should the primary contact for the organization leave its employment, the corporation may designate a new primary contact.
